1).  OPTION ONE – One Couple One Lawyer

√    Suitable where you and your ex agree the split of financial matrimonial assets

2).  OPTION TWO – Solicitor to Solicitor Settlement

√    Suitable for you and your ex where you continue to talk

√    But you may not agree a settlement

√    You instruct a solicitor and so does your ex

√    Both solicitors negotiate and an agreement is reached

√    Usually 2 or 3 meetings between the solicitors is required

√    Once an agreement is reached it is sent to the court for approval

√   If the court’s opinion is that the agreement is basically fair, the agreement is turned into a binding order

√   It is quick – 10 to 14 weeks

√   Less expensive than going to court

√   Our prices start at £1,499

 

3).  OPTION THREE – Solicitor to Solicitor plus Mediator

√   A mediator is a neutral person, usually a barrister, who acts as an advisor and go between

√   Suitable for you and your ex where you do not agree on the financial split and you are not communicating

√   The relationship may have broken down completely and there is tension between you and your ex

√   Meetings are arranged and you and your ex are in different rooms

√   Arrival and departure times are staggered so you and your ex do not meet

√    Both solicitors negotiate with the help of the mediator and an agreement is reached

√    Usually 3 or 4 meetings are required

√    Once an agreement is reached it is sent to the court for approval

√   If the court’s opinion is that the agreement is basically fair, the agreement is turned into a binding order

√   It is quick – 12 to 16 weeks

√   Less expensive than going to court
